Introduction

You are an elementary school teacher who just graduated from college. You have a student who has a learning disability. From the list below, choose a learning disability and find information about how Assistive Technology can enhance the students' learning.

The Task

Using internet-based resources, you need to identify resources and instructional practices to meet your students' learning disability. This includes assistive technologies and may also include approaches that don't require any technology.

Your Principal has asked you to generate a website to share with other teachers at your school as well as the school's administration. The website needs to contain an overview about working with students that have special needs, and technological resources that can enhance students' educational experiences. Further, the website should contain a description of key phrases, such as Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), inclusion and least restrictive environment. You may have to search further for these terms.

The Process

1. Use the list of resources in this section to help get you started.

5. Complete the Conclusion section on your Posterous site.

To create your website go to www.weebly.com or http://www.wix.com/

Your website must include:

1) a 1 paragraph overview of the terms IEP, inclusion and least restrictive environment.

2) a disability- including a description of how it influences academics, and how Assistive Technologies can support students with this disability.

3) Answers to the Conclusion questions below.

4) Links to all websites that you have used OR citations for any printed resources that you have used. You must use at least two resources.
